Friday Night, Florence

Not much photographically today. I’m trying to concentrate more on people and interesting things instead of the historic stuff here, which has been photographed to death. Three images are below; not my worst work by a long shot but feels like I’m trying to force it.

The young woman above Beatriz was singing under the portico off the Piazza della Republica; not really opera, not sure how to classify it. Wonderful voice, all in Italian. Didn’t get a chance to speak with her; perhaps next time.

Friday night is a big night for street performers; guitarist over where the violin player was the other night. He was good, acoustic guitar, big audience; would have been nice in a bar but after the classical violin player and tonight’s woman he just seemed average. At least he wasn’t playing the cheesy pseudo classical music like the guy earlier.

Video below is raw, only edited for content. Quality isn’t great either. First part is the woman above; second part is this Charlie Chaplin like street performer, gets volunteers from the audience. Cheesy italian type humor.

It seems like anyone can close a street here or just put your restaurant tables and chairs on the sidewalk and in the street. Interesting…
